Fender Vows to Lower Tour Ticket Prices After Fan Backlash

The artist has responded to criticism over his upcoming tour's ticket costs, promising to adjust pricing for the stadium shows.

The announcement of a new stadium tour for musician Sam Fender quickly met a wave of complaints about the cost of tickets, prompting a public response from the artist. Concerns from followers about the price of admission to the Proper Massive tour have led to a discussion about the cost of attending live shows.

The debate intensified after an Instagram user shared the ticket options for Fender's show at Wembley. The prices revealed a large difference between ticket types, with front standing tickets listed at 130.75 pounds and standard standing tickets at 98.85 pounds. Seated tickets for the event were offered at prices from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds.

Fender replied to the post, saying he was not happy with the figures. He stated that the cost of tickets had been raised beyond what he had originally planned for the tour. He added that any price increase should only reflect the costs of putting on the show, not serve as an extra source of profit for ticketing partners.

The musician also objected to the division of the standing area into separate tiers, calling the practice "bollocks" and confirming that this structure will not be part of his tour. He questioned how the practice has become standard in live music.

The high ticket prices are not exclusive to the London show. Tour dates in other cities also have tickets for standing areas that cost more than 100 pounds. The highest ticket price in Newcastle was listed at 112.90 pounds, while Cardiff's top price was 119 pounds. In Manchester, the highest price is 119.60 pounds, and in Edinburgh, it is 120.95 pounds.

General ticket sales for the tour, which takes place across the summer of 2027, are scheduled to begin on Friday, with a presale opening on Wednesday morning. The tour will visit major stadiums, including St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

Fender's comments follow similar statements from other musicians about the high cost of concert tickets. In August, pop singer Zara Larsson also spoke out about expensive ticket prices for her show in Bangkok, stating her desire to be more involved in the pricing process.

In other news, Fender has confirmed that a fourth studio album is being created, though no title or release date has been provided. This follows his Mercury prize win for his 2025 album People Watching. He has five Brit awards to his name. His collaboration with singer Olivia Dean on a duet version of the single Rein Me In won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year. The duet also spent 23 weeks at number one, making it the longest-running number one single in British history.

The artist has built a career with hits such as Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under. He has won five Brit awards during his career. Earlier this year, he collaborated with English singer songwriter Olivia Dean on a duet version of the single Rein Me In.
